River Hill scored a touchdown with 2:30 remaining but a missed extra point kept Oakland Mills in front, 34-33. The Hawks recovered the ensuing kickoff and Cooper McGeehan made a field goal to give River Hill a 36-33 lead with just over a minute left. River Hill scored on a safety with 40 seconds left after a snap sailed over the Oakland Mills' quarterback's head.

The Hawks struck for two goals in the opening 12 minutes and held on the rest of the way to open their own tournament with a victory.

Andrew Donkor kicked off the scoring courtesy of a feed from Jed Dixon. Then Alex Smedley followed with a goal off an assist from Justin Harris.

"Tuscarora is a solid team and was a big test for us tonight," River Hill coach Matt Shagogue said. "We defended well tonight … I was very pleased with the effort."

The Dragons used a fast start to earn the victory over their IAAM C conference opponent on Friday.

Glenelg Country sophomore forward Samantha Wollman kicked off the scoring five minutes into the game off an assist from senior midfielder Bobbie Haney. Then sophomore forward Anna Kearney upped the lead to two with 17:52 left in the first half. Before halftime, the Dragons added another as Haney assisted again on a goal by senior forward Sydney Johnson to make it 3-0 at the break.

Park's Julia Russel scored her teams' lone goal with 10:48 left in the game.

Aside from the offensive standouts, Glenelg Country coach Anne Smith said that midfielder Avery Dyer and defenders Kate Sites and Carly Schiller all played key roles in the victory.
