Soccer has always been entrenched in the lives of the Shea family. After all, the Shea's have been a fixture within the sport at Oakland Mills High School for the past three decades.

But this fall, siblings Trevor and Megan Shea will begin a new chapter. The duo is taking over the head coaching responsibilities for the Wilde Lake High School boys and girls soccer varsity programs.

"[Wilde Lake] was definitely a big rival when I was in high school," Megan Shea said. "My dad took over the Oakland Mills program when I was a year old, so I think my family has spent more time at Oakland Mills than any house that we lived in. But the Wilde Lake community has been really welcoming as well. I will say though, my first year people would be like, 'Oh you're from Oakland Mills.' But now I think I'm transitioning to become a Wildecat, even if I'm still a Scorpion at heart."

Megan and Trevor's parents, Don and Nancy Shea, had ample success while coaching at Oakland Mills. Don has won eight state titles between 1986 and 2002 leading the boys program, while Nancy also won a state title during her tenure coaching the girls squad.

"My dad is always giving me advice constantly. That's just the way he is," Trevor Shea said. "He just lets me know things that he has learned over the years, but most importantly to do what deep down we know is the right thing to do and try not to let too many people change or influence you in any way.
