The seeds for the 2016 Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association region tournament were released on Monday morning, with Howard County's boys and girls teams split up between the 4A/3A North and 3A/2A South regions.
On the boys side, Mt. Hebron (Section I) and River Hill (Section II) have the top seeds in their respective sections of the 3A/2A South region. Both teams have opening-round byes and will play their first games on Friday, May 13. Howard is the lone team in the 4A/3A North region and has earned a two-seed in Section I. The Lions also have a bye.
For the girls, Marriotts Ridge (Section I) and Atholton (Section II) each earned bye's with the top seeds in its respective sections. The Mustangs will play the winner of Reservoir (4-seed) and Winters Mill (5-seed) on May 13, while Mt. Hebron (3-seed) will face off against Centennial (6-seed) and Glenelg (2-seed) and Oakland Mills (7-seed) play its first round games May 11.
The Raiders will take on the winner of Hammond (4-seed) and River Hill (5-seed), while Wilde Lake (2-seed) takes on Long Reach (7-seed) in the first round, also on May 11.
Howard also earned a bye in the 4A/3A region, earning a 2-seed. The Lions will play their first game May 13 at home against the winner of Springbrook (2-seed) and Blake (6-seed).
