Reservoir (7-4 county, 15-6 overall – No. 2 seed Section I 3A East Region)

Best Case: The Gators use the week off before playoffs to do some soul searching and get back to the up-tempo, in-your-face defense that leads to transition offense style of team that has looked unstoppable at times this winter. After all, this is a team that started the year with eight straight wins and won another five straight in January. Reservoir kicks things off win a win over a Long Reach team it swept in the regular season and then exacts some revenge in the second round against Centennial, which swept the Gators during the regular season. The redemption tour continues with a win over River Hill in the region semifinals and that sets up a showdown with Stephen Decatur, which Reservoir knocks off in an overtime thriller. While Poly proves to be too much in the state semifinals, the run to the program’s second-ever region championship is the perfect send off for the team’s 10 seniors. Even better, Judge Payne plays so well during the postseason that he makes a late push toward Howard County Player of the Year honors.
