Simmons hoping to lead Reservoir girls soccer in playoff push

Reservoir girls soccer players Janie Romer, Cassidy Pham, Kylie Toler and Leah Simmons compete against each other in a series of competitions in the latest edition of Varsity Q&A. (Monica D'Ippolito/BSMG)

Coming off a 3A South region championship last season — its first since 2011 — the Reservoir girls soccer team had high expectations entering 2016. With the regular season winding down, the Gators have played like one of the best teams in the county and appear primed for a deep playoff run once again. Senior captain Leah Simmons, who has stepped in to a leadership role in her fourth year on varsity, is a major reason behind that success. Simmons recently sat down with Howard County girls soccer beat reporter Monica D'Ippolito and talked about last year's 3A state semifinal loss against Bel Air, the expectations remaining for this season and what she wants the legacy of her senior class to be.
