When the dust settled on the opening weekend for Howard County's boys soccer teams, there were a wide array of results to build on.
The big wins included Mt. Hebron knocking off Catonsville in a rematch of last year's match-up that saw the Comets emerge victorious. This time, the Vikings used a pair of first-half goals to provide the cushion needed to earn a 2-1 win of their own. To read a full story about the game, see photos and video CLICK HERE.
Other teams earning victories were Centennial (3-1 over South Carroll), Atholton (1-0 over Einstein) and Oakland Mills (1-0 over La Plata).
On the other side of the coin, however, were River Hill and Glenelg losing back-to-back games in their respective tournaments. Neither of those two squads scored a goal over the weekend. To read a full story and watch video highlights from River Hill's loss to Westminster on Saturday, CLICK HERE.
Even Oakland Mills, which lost 7-0 to Blake in the final of its own tournament, and Atholton, which dropped a 3-2 decision against Blair, was unable to emerge from the weekend unscathed. Blair also handed Marriotts Ridge a 4-0 loss on Saturday.
County teams are back in action on Tuesday, with River Hill traveling to play Liberty and Hammond hosting Edgewood. On Wednesday, Reservoir and Howard will square off in the first county match-up of the fall.
