Howard County set to hold annual basketball all-star games Wednesday

The annual Howard County boys and girls basketball all-star games will take place at Oakland Mills this Wednesday, with three games and several special events scheduled to take place.The night&#8217;s festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. with a senior showcase boys&#8217; game, featuring 21 players. At 7 p.m. the girls&#8217; all-star game will take place and then at 8 p.m. a top-24 boys all-star game will be played &#8212; featuring the area&#8217;s top seniors as selected by event organizers.Intermingled over the course of the evening will be a 3-point shootout and a dunk contest. There is a $5 admission charge for the event, which is good for all games.The rosters for both boys&#8217; games have been divided up based on classification, just like last winter. The county&#8217;s smaller schools (class 2A) will square off against the county&#8217;s large schools (class 3A/4A).The 2A squad has players from Glenelg, Hammond, Marriotts Ridge, Oakland Mills, River Hill and Wilde Lake. The 3A squad has players from Atholton, Centennial, Chapelgate, Long Reach, Mt. Hebron and Reservoir. Over the course of the evening, 13 of the 14 local schools will be represented by at least one boys player.The girls&#8217; rosters are organized slightly differently, with players from Glenelg Country, Long Reach and Reservoir on one team facing off against a team comprised of players from Atholton, Marriotts Ridge and Oakland Mills.The 3-point shootout will feature Daeshawn Eaton (Oakland Mills), Trea Keys (Wilde Lake), Johnny Piwowarski (Glenelg) and Brandon Prox (Mt. Hebron) for the boys. The girls participants are still being finalized, but Long Reach&#8217;s Jaelyn Swann and Marley Grenway are both scheduled to participate.The dunk contest will feature Odell Dickerson (Mt.
