After getting shutout in four of its last five games, Mt. Hebron was determined to put the ball in the back of the net Thursday. And it did.

The Vikings put away three goals – tying a season-high – en route to the, 3-0, victory over Glenelg.

"It seemed like the thing that was missing the past four out of the last five games was putting the ball in the back of the net," said Mt. Hebron coach Tim Deppen after the win at Glenelg High School. "I don't think at a possession and a team play standpoint that anything happened different tonight that us happened against Centennial and against Atholton, against River Hill – three of our last four losses. It was the same team that played we were just able to get the ball in the back of the net tonight. It was huge for confidence. Now we know what it looks like. We know what it feels like and it's a huge confidence booster."

The Gladiators established some possession off the opening whistle, but once the Vikings settled in they maintained control for the majority of the 30 minutes following, playing most of the first half in Glenelg's defensive half.

Mt. Hebron created chances inside the Gladiators 18-yard box and even earned five set pieces (three free kicks, two corners) within the last 30 minutes or so. But it was freshman Alexa Dragisics who finally broke through for the Vikings with about 11 minutes left before the break. Dragisics sent a shallow cross at Glenelg goalkeeper Alyssa Henderson, who mishandled the well-struck ball, as it deflected off her hands and in to the net.
