Oakland Mills’ girls basketball team stayed undefeated on the season Tuesday, defeating Glenelg 59-51 on the road.
Marley Grenway led the way in the victory with 21 points, but Jazmine Washington (16 points, 5 assists) and Aislynn Riggs (12 points, 9 blocks, 6 rebounds and 6 steals) also had huge all-around games for the Scorpions.
In the loss, Jess Foster led Glenelg (1-1, 2-1) with 18 points — hitting five 3-pointers. Kellie Johnson (12 points) and Abby Gillespie (10) also scored in double figures.
Oakland Mills (2-0, 3-0) led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, although the Gladiators managed to stay within striking distance throughout the contest. The Scorpions lead was 26-25 at the half and 40-36 after three quarters.
But in the final period Grenway scored 10 of her points and was part of an Oakland Mills 6-7 effort from the foul line to seal the win.
