River Hill softball players teach hitting fastpitch [Sports Breakdown]

It was a breakthrough season this spring for River Hill sophomore third baseman Kinsey Johnson, who finished among the county's top 10 hitters in terms of batting average this spring.

Her final .487 mark included 36 hits (fifth most among county players). It was because of that prowess as a hitter, along with solid play in the field, that Johnson was named to this year's all-county first team.

River Hill featured seven sophomores in major roles this year on its way to reaching the state semifinals for the first time in program history.

In addition to Johnson, other standouts in that sophomore group were outfielder Courtney Colosimo (2nd team all-county), first baseman Kallan Dirmeyer (2nd team all-county) and pitcher Sabrina Curtiss (led county with a 0.89 ERA).
