The Piccadilly Circus is making a stop at the Howard County Fairgrounds this week.
Starting on Wednesday, April 10, elephants, jugglers, trapezists and the giant circus tent will all be back to wow audiences.
On Tuesday morning, the group was still busy assembling those tents in the hot sun.
"It's a traditional circus... in a new style setting," said circus animal specialist Jason Walker. "It's an intimate, fun show."
Some of the animal acts and and other performers are mere feet from the front rows of the audience during the show. The animals include several camels, ponies, zebras and, of course, the elephant — a crowd favorite.
Setting up the circus is like setting up a small city every week, Walker said.
"But once it's all set up, it looks like it's a permanent structure," he said. "It's hard to believe we actually move it, you know, every week."
The Piccadilly Circus was at National Harbor last week and will be stopping in Linthicum next week.
Performances at the Howard County Fairgrounds will be at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday (April 10-12), and there are three shows on Saturday and Sunday.
