Two lanes to close on eastbound I-70 in Howard County after rush hour Friday

Two right lanes on eastbound Interstate 70 in Howard County will be closed this weekend after rush hour Friday morning, according to State Highway Administration officials.

The closures, made necessary because of emergency pavement repairs, will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday. Lanes will reopen by Monday, Nov. 10 at 5 a.m. The left lane of eastbound I-70 will remain open.

Repair work will stretch about 1.5 miles along I-70, between the exit for Route 94 and the Morgan Station Road overpass.

SHA officials suggested that motorists use alternate routes over the weekend. One option is to exit at Route 94, head south and follow alternate route signs to Frederick Road, which runs parallel to I-70. Motorists can also take Route 27 north to eastbound Route 26 or Route 27 south to eastbound Route 144/Frederick Road.
