Howard senior Taylor Scaife proved she was the best shot-putters in the state by sweeping the postseason meets, but at the New Balance Indoor National Championships at the New York Armory this weekend, she proved herself in another event.

Entering the competition, Scaife said her goal was throw between 55 to 60 feet in the Emerging Elite category of the weight throw, and she accomplished her goal by setting a meet record of 56 feet, 2.75 inches.
