After suffering an opening-game loss against Howard, Reservoir's softball team has bounced back nicely.
The most recent in a string of three straight wins came on Tuesday against North County, as the Gators scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to earn a 6-4 victory in the non-county match-up.
Emily Wang pitched a standout game in the circle, going the full eight innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. She walked just one batter.
On the offensive side, Anna Bennett was the team's top hitter with a 3-4 day that included two doubles. She also added a run scored and an RBI.
Wang, who added a double of her own, and Holly Daum each had a pair of hits and at least one RBI. Wang had 2 RBI, while Daum scored 2 runs and stole a base.
North County, which scattered seven hits, had grabbed the lead early on with a trio of runs in the opening two innings. But Reservoir chipped away, eventually tying things at 4-4 in the top of the sixth to set the stage for extra innings and the eventual win.
Reservoir (3-1) will be back in action on Monday as one of seven Howard County teams scheduled to participate in the District V Spring Break Tournament. The Gators will play Arundel at 11 a.m. and then Broadneck at 3 p.m. at the Bachman Sports Complex.
