Glenelg won both of its games in Saturday's Winters Mill tournament. First, the Gladiators defeated Winters Mill, 11-8, and then they beat Hereford, 10-8, after a remarkable comeback.
Glenelg trailed 7-2 halfway through the second game against the Bulls, but managed to outscore them 8-1 in the second half.
"It took us a while to find our [offensive] set that worked against them. We made some attacking adjustments," said Glenelg coach Ginger Kincaid.
Glenelg also had to adjust its defense to counter the fact that Hereford moved the ball well.
Goalie Katelin Johnson made "one game changing interception that was amazing. …Then we went on a tear," Kincaid added. "I'm really, really proud of them. Hereford is not a bad team. We had to fight and claw our way back into the game."
Hannah Doughty had five goals in the tournament while Sami Smit had four. Johnson combined for 13 saves.
