2013-14 record: 9-10, 13-12
Coach: Jansen McMillan
Top players: Seniors Matt Hammert (G), Dom Napolitano (G), Nick Oates (G) and Daine Van de Wall (F).
What you need to know: The Gladiators have been building toward this season for quite some time, going back to when the duo of Hammert and Oates were starting games on varsity as freshman. Now as those two have grown into seniors, along with a host of other guys that have been on varsity for multiple years, the hope is that the lessons learned along the way finally pay off this year.
There are nine seniors on the roster for the Gladiators
"This might be the most seniors I've ever had and we're definitely going to rely heavily on them," said coach Jansen McMillan. "This is going to be a different experience for this group … having those expectations of being one of the teams to beat. But I'm not looking at it so much as pressure, and instead more like an opportunity to show what we can do."
Each of Glenelg's top four returners averaged nine or more points a game last season. Oates was tied for third in the county in assists a game (4.4), Van de Wall was among the top 10 in rebounds a game (7.4) and Hammert (65 threes made) and Napolitano (45) were each among the league's top six three-point shooters as juniors.
Other returning guys that have seen regular minutes in reserve roles in the past are Brent Richardson and Patrick Mullinix.
