The Howard County baseball coaches met last week to select the all-county team, and Howard's Jimmy Cain and Mt. Hebron's Mark Smith earned top honors as the Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
Cain led the Lions to their best season in more than a decade. He batted .414 with 28 RBIs, 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs, and was 4-1 with an ERA of 1.93 on the mound. He will play for Millersville University next year.
Smith led the Vikings to their first regional championship since 1980, and was 8-1 with an ERA of less than 1. He will pitch for Towson University next year.
