West Friendship Elementary School Brownie Troop 2484 has completed the Brownie Quest leadership journey.
Throughout the Brownie Quest, the young Brownies learned to discover more about themselves, connect with others and take action to improve their community.
The girls determined that a real need in the community is that of children who are hospitalized and need appropriate distraction while waiting for medical attention. Having identified the need, the troop members took action by creating packets of coloring pages, crayons, stickers and a variety of activities to be given to patients at the Howard County General Hospital Pediatric Unit.
This recent quest journey is just one example of how Girl Scouts is building girls of courage, confidence and character, according to adult mentor Maureen Yencha.
One aim of the Girl Scouts is for its members to make the world a better place. Surely these young West Friendship Brownies — who include Kasey Hawk, Sofia DeLisa-Hughes, Paige McDonald, Gracie Hargrove, Lisa Yan and Jaclyn Yencha —have done just that.
