When George Simon Kaufman and Moss Hart’s beloved comedy “You Can’t Take It With You” premiered on Broadway 82 years ago, little could they have imagined that the screwball antics of their batty characters would endure to delight audiences into the 21st century.
The Marriotts Ridge High School performance of "You Can’t Take It With You" is set for Nov. 15-17, at 7 p.m. and Nov. 18, at 3 p.m. Sophomore Dylan Buchwald as Grandpa, junior Leah Vlahov as Alice Sycamore, and seniors Hanna Al-Kowsi as Penny Sycamore and David Seaburg as Tony Kirby all give top rate performances.
Come out and see the hilarity ensue with the likes of the Vanderhof’s, the Sycamore’s, G-Men, the Grand Duchess Olga and a cast of whimsical and raucous characters and action. Tickets are $10 at the door.

It is hard to believe that Joel Goodman’s local young astronomers club, the Celestial Searchers, is in its 20th year in western Howard County. The club members still meet at 7 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the Glenwood Branch library. During the late October session, club members enjoyed views of Saturn through telescope observation. Goodman, who is the Nature Sphere Planetarium Programmer at the Robinson Nature Center on Cedar Lane, is also the founder and director of Celestial Searchers. Interested in joining? It’s Scholastic Book Fair time at West Friendship Elementary. One of the school’s best events where youngsters often discover their passion for reading. The book fair runs all week with from Nov. 13 through Nov. 20 with lots of opportunities for students and parents to select some great reads.
