More than a few headaches occurred for homeowners and business owners during the Jan. 7 and 8 "Polar Vortex" — frozen pipes, clogged gutters, icy sidewalks to name just a few.
When heaving concrete from the deep freeze made opening the door at the Studio 10 Salon on Ten Oaks Road an impossibility, the mighty and stalwart team of Manuel Perez and Amilkay Canales of Hatfield's Equipment of Glenelg, remedied the problem.
The men, braving freezing temperatures, arrived at 6 a.m. to jackhammer the heaved concrete, pour quick dry cement and smooth the area before customers arrived. What a team.
