Club president Caroline Beall, vice president Jackie Bauer, treasurer Iris Yourick, recording secretary Austin Johnson, corresponding secretary Breanne Yencha, reporter Eric Fiege, historians Eric Roth and Taryn Schwartz, parliamentarian Grace Meyer, recreational leaders Will Meyer, Kathryn Roth and Michael Yencha and greeter Kendall McIntryre were among the club's leaders noted as new officers on Jan. 11.

During the holiday season, this club donated $200 to the Friendship Baptist Church food pantry. West Friendship Livestock 4-H club member Austin Johnson's brother Travis Johnson, is the youth minister at the church. The 4-H members made up Christmas food baskets for local families in need.

In addition, the club members donated $278 to Days End Farm Horse Rescue. Funds were earned by directing event parking during the rescue farm's fall festival in October. This active and community minded club meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the fair activities building at the Howard County Fairgrounds. New members are always welcome.

The short course is scheduled for Feb. 17 and 24 and March 3, 17 and 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. That's the buzz, according to Doris Walsh, long time participant in all things bee related.

Great condolences to the family of Capt. Eric Steciak, a former longtime volunteer at West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department. Steciak was killed in the line of duty in early January. Our community mourns the loss of this true local hero.
