This is a busy week for Simulated Congressional Hearings. The fifth grade presents to judges information about our Constitution.
Gorman Crossing on June on 1 was very impressive. Laurel Woods held hearings on June 2. They really blew some of the judges away with their answers and knowledge. Guilford Elementary was June 3. They did an amazing job of explaining such complicated information in a way anyone could understand.
To top off the week, Bollman Bridge held theirs on June 4. The students were so poised and confident. They really knew their stuff. Excellent jobs done by all.
Sign up now for Donuts with Dad on June 20 at the North Laurel Community Center. Come for donuts and light refreshments while enjoying the day with your Dad. The North Laurel Community Fair will be on June 13 at the Whiskey Bottom Shopping Center. This fair will showcase many agencies that the county has to assist those in need. It will also have performances by the Kangaroo Kids, a moonbounce, clowns, games and a lot more. Come out to find out what resources the county has to offer. Everything is free. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Future Kindergarteners at Bollman Bridge are invited to Popsicles on the Playground on June 8. This is an opportunity for those students entering kindergarten in the fall to come meet the teachers and other future students. The event will run from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Future Kindergarteners at Forest Ridge are also invited to Popsicles on the Playground on June 9, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Forest Ridge. Children should be registered for this event and kindergarten to attend.
The last Chat and Chew of the year will happen at Guilford Elementary on June 9 at 6 p.m. followed by a PTA meeting at 7 p.m.
Book your events for the 50+ Center. June 8 is Talkin' Broadway starting at 1 p.m. June 10 will be a presentation, The Other Talk. This is about letting your family your wishes in health, legal and financial issues. It will run 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On June 10 at 11 a.m. is a Cowboy Cookout. Afterwards is the Senior Council Ice Cream Social. This will run Noon to 2 p.m. On June 17 at 11 a.m. is a Father's Day Chicken and Fish Fry. Cost is $3 plus a lunch contribution. Ballroom and Latin Dance class starts June 30 till Aug. 4 at 1:30 p.m. Cost is $52 for 6 classes. There is also a Women's Social Group that will meet on the first and third Tuesdays on each month starting in June. All programs require registration by calling 410-313-0380.
