I think my lawn may never be the same again. How about you?
This wet winter weather seems to have turned my yard into a small pond and Iām afraid it may never get back to normal. That is exactly why I think the presentation at the Savage Branch library on Thursday, March 14, will be informative.
Master Gardener Ann Vieth will present Growing and Maintaining a Fescue Lawn at 7 p.m.
Recently, I learned that fescue grass is weed-resistant and tough. It does well in the winter but drinks a lot in the summer. The lawn supported in the presentation will be a Bay-Wise lawn.
Covered topics include soil preparation and testing, choosing correct seed, fertilizers, watering, mowing, thatch, weed and disease control. A beautiful lawn could be yours without adding to pollution of the Chesapeake Bay. Registration for the presentation is through the SavageBranch online at hclibrary.org or with the library staff by calling 410-313-0760.
The Savage Historical Society will meet on Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. Come to the Faith and Ministry Center at 9032 Baltimore St. for the presentation Treasures One and All. You can be a presenter if you bring your own cherished item.
If Savage is your hometown, bring something that represents the town. Attendees and presenters are asked to be ready to describe how and where you got your special item and why it is so extraordinary to you. Questions can be answered by calling Helen Rushing, the Societyās secretary at 301-725 -1241.
