I am delighted to report that yes, the show will go on! That's right—the fifth annual Ellicott City Fall Fest will be held as originally scheduled on Saturday, Sept. 24. Only the venue has changed. Instead of five stages throughout the historic district, the event will take place at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. Doors open at 11 a.m., and the music — provided by upward of 60 bands — will play on from noon to 11 p.m. This all-day entertainment fest is a bargain at $12 per person, with kids ages 12 and under getting in free. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ellicott City Partnership, one of the organizations providing aid to victims of the July flood. Our beloved national sports teams are responding to our need as well. The Baltimore Ravens have donated $10,000 and on Sept. 23, the Orioles will play the Arizona Diamondbacks at Camden Yards in a game benefiting our Main Street. Five dollars from every ticket sold will be divided into two funds — one for downtown Ellicott City residents and businesses through the Ellicott City Partnership and one for residents of the surrounding areas who had damage done to their homes, through the Howard County Community Relief Fund. You can support our team and our town at the same time.Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center continues to host a group of displaced Main Street merchants. They will be there on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the Christmas holiday season. They are in a conference room in the lower level of the main building — hang a right at Alexandra's Restaurant and walk down the hall to the room on the left. The next concert sponsored by the Howard County Historical Society in its Music at the Museum series will be on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the museum on Court Avenue. Free and easy parking is available in the adjacent Court House parking lot. Saturday's performance features "Two for the Show," a vocal duet performing a variety of songs. Tickets are $12, free to Society members with a reservation. You are welcome to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy. Mention the event at the Wine Bin that day and receive a 10 percent discount.
