Young author needs help on dog rescue mission [Marriottsville/Sykesville/Woodstock]

Marriottsville author Liz Rolland is asking readers to download her short story so she can win a contest and assist Akita rescue agencies. (submitted photo)

Liz Rolland, a local author who lives in Marriottsville, has entered a short story contest online at http://www.freeditorial.com. Her story, "Facebook can be Fatal," already has over 800 downloads and she is asking for your help. The story with the most downloads will win $15,000.

What will she do with $15,000? Liz and her family adopted two rescued Akita dogs and recently lost their female Akita named Ginny. Liz and her family want to honor Ginny's memory and thank the tireless rescuers who work to help abandoned animals.

The $15,000 prize will be split between two East Coast Akita rescue centers: Big East Akita Rescue in New Jersey and Rakki Inu Akita Rescue in Virginia. This is a cause that is close to their heart. Anyone can help by going to the website http://www.freeditorial.com and downloading Liz Rolland's story for free. Downloads are available in PDF, Kindle or with a free app on your smart phone.

Only one IP address will count towards her total and the contest will end on June 4. For more information, you can read Liz's blog at http://www.balancesalad.blogspot.com.
