Congratulations to our local Howard County Conservancy — they are a recipient of the Standards for Excellence Institute's Seal of Excellence after successfully completing the Institute's accreditation program.
The conservancy received this accreditation with the Standards for Excellence in areas including mission, leadership, legal compliance and ethics, public awareness, engagement and advocacy.
The conservancy is a nonprofit organization that reaches more then 12,000 people a year through its environmental education programs.

On Wednesday, Jan. 14, Mount View Middle School hosted the Night of Ensembles, featuring its School Jazz Band. Congratulations to the following students for their outstanding performance: Sasvi Kulasinghe and Hanna Kim on French horn, Isaac Kim on trombone, Katy Gu and Angelina Zheng on violin, Juliana Hess on flute and Tyler Colburn and Tiffany Lee on cello.
