Do you have some extra time on your hands and looking for volunteer opportunities? The Howard County Conservancy in Woodstock is hosting a Volunteer Open House on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Some of the volunteer opportunities that are available are school field trip hike leaders, trail maintenance and habitat restoration, office tasks and animal care. Current staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions.
Following the open house at 11 a.m., REI of Columbia will give a presentation on "Gearing Up for the Outdoors". Those who attend the open house are invited to stay for the free presentation. For questions or more information, contact Sue Phipps at sue.phipps@hcconservancy.org.
The band musicians for January at West Friendship Elementary School are Dhruv Garg (alto sax), Megan Wagner (clarinet), Diana Chatrchi (flute), Brenna Fenlon (flute), Niko Sambat (percussion), Alan Zhao (alto sax), Rachel Parkent (clarinet), Jorge Suris (trombone) and Luke Whalen (trumpet).
The Knights of Columbus will hold a charity Longaberger Basket Bingo on Friday, Jan. 30. This event will be held at St. Louis Church Social Hall in Clarksville.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first game will begin at 7 p.m. There will be 20 regular games and specials. Extra game packets will be available for $5.
