Let's have a round of applause for the young musicians at Marriotts Ridge High School and Mount View Middle School who achieved All State and Howard County Honor status recently.
At Marriotts Ridge High School, orchestra students who made Junior All State are Rachel Choi (violin), Yoo Jean Han (violin), Angelica Kim (violin), David Stephens (viola), Mindy Kang (cello), Danika Lee (cello), Davin Park (cello) and Cindy Jin (bass).
Students who made Senior All State are Elise Ahn (oboe), Ashley Choi (violin), Ben Giroux (percussion), Davin Hong (violin), Jenny Huang (violin), Alisa Hwang (cello), Sam Lam (cello), Sophie Lan (violin), Courtney Loeb (bass clarinet), John McIntyre (viola), Jina Park (violin), Rachel Park (cello alternate), Niklas Schnake (French horn), Christine Shi (violin) and Neil Wu (cello). Congratulations to those students!
Not to be out done, Mount View Middle School also has students who were selected for All State Band Honors and Howard County Honors Band.
The students for All State Band are Gabrielle Murphy, Hannah Kim, Naomi Han, Ji Woo Moon, Max Kaiser, Elizabeth Degenford, Stephanie Choi and Isaac Kim. Students selected for Howard County Honors Band are: Makenna Benson, Rebecca Baker and Oliver Wu.
Congratulations also go to the Mount View Middle School band that participated in the school district GT band concert this past November at Glenelg High School. Those students are Sasvi Kulasinghe, Stephanie Choi, Isaac Kim, Jonathan Bitterli, Erin Ko, Isabel Lee, Elizabeth Degenford, Oliver Wu, Hannah Kim, Eric Li, Kevin Hermstein, Naomi Han, Jiwoo Moon, Stephanie Oh and Gabrielle Murphy.
The Knights of Columbus will hold a charity Longaberger Basket Bingo on Friday, Jan. 30. This event will be held at St. Louis Church Social Hall in Clarksville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first game will begin at 7 p.m.

The Howard County Conservancy at Mt. Pleasant will host "Wildflowers in the Understory: A Perspective on 'Painting' with Nature's Light with Jackie Bailey Labovitz" on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family.
