The folks at Marriotts Ridge High School have much to be proud about. Not only are they celebrating a 10-year anniversary, they have a Fine Arts department worth celebrating.

One staff member in particular, dance teacher Patricia Spruill, has been chosen as the December Hero in the WMAR/ABC Channel 2 Teachers Are Heros awards. Channel 2 visited Marriotts Ridge High School to present Spruill with a $250 check for classroom supplies, an engraved plaque and a dinner cruise for two aboard the Spirit of Baltimore.

Spruill will be recognized by Superintendent Renee Foose at the Jan. 15 Board of Education meeting.

The music department at MRHS also deserves recognition.
