The Lisbon Citgo, which is the current home of the Old Town Grill, has been sold to Carroll Independent Fuel and the grill "where the locals eat" sadly will be closing in the next few months.Howard Laskey, proprietor since 2007,will take his business just down Frederick Road where he will manage and oversee the operation of the Old Town Grill at Foster's Country Store in West Friendship. The menu will offer the same wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner choices with the same casual, relaxed eating as at the Lisbon location. Catering services will continue to be available. Howard reports that there will be seating for approximately 50 in the new location with the possibility of additional garden seating as the weather warms.

Lisbon will miss the Grill and especially Howard, who has been an integral part of the community. He served on the Horse Parade and Tractor Parade committees as the community liaison, connecting with other commercial providers for both events. He also hosted the "Conversation with a Cop" activity where residents were able to interface with members of the local police force around issues of interest to them. Howard serves on the Howard County Tourism Council. He says that even though he is moving his location, he intends to continue his relationship with the Lisbon community and the town ispleased to hear that.

The fuel pumps will remain and the gas station will continue to provide someauto repair services. Flick's Auto Body, which is also a part of the property being sold, will close in the near future.

I am always looking for local folks who are doing wonderful things andin my searchI recently became aware of the literary talents of Anadi Niak of Woodbine. Anadi was born in India but is a long-time resident, with his wife Carroll, ofthe western Howard County community and an active member of the Lisbon United Methodist Church. Anadi writes articles about the various aspects oflife in India, but his most important works are two novels, "Song of Satan," described by Amazon as "a tragic story of an American family" published in 2010 and "Nineteenth of November," advertised as a story "of hope, perseverance, love and the desire to be loved" published in 2011. Although not available in the Howard County Library system, both books can be found on Amazon.comand at the Dancing Iguana Bookstore in Frederick, Greetings and Readings at Hunt Valley and through the Carroll County Public Library system. Anadi is touted as a keen observer of people, places, and ideas. He writes of families and how we make decisions and negotiate the important relationships in our lives. Either book is a good read and will be great entertainment on these cold, snowy, wintry days. For further details about Anadi's writings visit his website www.anadinaik.com.
