The Reservoir High School Marching Band and Color Guard had another outstanding performance at the third annual Music in Motion US Bands Competition held at the school on a recent Saturday night.
These two groups put on yet another winning performance, sweeping all three categories: Best Visual, Best Music, and Best Overall. It was an outstanding effort by all participants.
The Music Boosters did a great job organizing the program. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the opportunity to see ten of the top bands from the area come together for this competition. Congratulations to all the band members, the color guard and to their coaches David Bacon and Allie Alexander.
With the holidays just around the corner, Martie Nagle and the folks at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church are sponsoring their annual Christmas bazaar on Nov. 8 and 9. Doors are open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, and again on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There will be local crafters, a silent auction, raffles, a used book sale, baked goods, themed baskets and other items on hand. Find that special gift for that special someone in your life.
Karli Smiraglia, a member of the Reservoir High School Girls Cross Country Track Team, had an outstanding performance at the Howard County Championships, where she finished in third place in the 5K with a time of 19:29. Along the way, she established a new RHS record for the County Championship 5K.
Teammate Heather Ailinger ran her heat in 21:55, the fourth fastest freshman in the county. And Danielle Gray earned a spot on the varsity team for the Regional Championships. On the Boys team, Owen Pochettino took fourth place with a time of 16:53. Alex Hedgren finished in 15th with a time of 17:34 and Brian Fieni finished just a little behind Alex with a time of 17:53, taking 25th place. Notable mentions go to Griffin Hyde and Jason Schuler, both of whom finished well ahead of their projected places. That was an awesome performance, people. Congratulations to the both teams and to Coach Phil Rogers and Coach Jud Lincoln.
The Reservoir High School Varsity Gator football team saw their record improve to 5-2 with a 46-20 win over Long Reach. Avian White ran for 125 yards with 25 carries, scoring once. Max Schuster ran for two touchdowns and took to the air, connecting with Craig Jones for two TDs and Joey Janush for another. The defense, led by Sean Davis, Grant McMullan and Jack Dudzinski, held Long Reach to under a hundred yards on the ground. Congratulations to the team and the coaching staff led by Head Coach Bryan Cole.
The Reservoir Freshmen Volleyball Team finished the season with a 6-4-3 record, winning the final game of the season against Hammond High School with a 25-17 and 25-13 game. Rebecca Harding had 14 digs, Rebecca Kaylie had 7 aces and 15 digs, Zen Tabligan had 5 aces, Hannah Shin had 2 kills, Laghia Spence had 12 aces, Maya Patel had 3 kills and Bethany Spicher had 20 aces.
The Girls JV Volleyball Team finished the season with a 10-4 record defeating Hammond High in two games. The team accumulated 16 aces and 10 kills. And with a win by the Varsity Volleyball Team, the volleyball teams swept Hammond. Players of note on the varsity squad were Julia Gonzalo — 4 kills, Imani Clayton — 7 kills, Paige Foley — 5 aces, Caroline Winand — 19 assists and Megan Lieb — 16 digs. Congratulations to all the players and their coaches Jamie Bullock, Emma Dawe and Megan Yozsa-Prentice.
