Reservoir High has a field day in cross country [Fulton/Highland]

The Reservoir High School Cross Country teams competed at the Adidas Cross Country Challenge in Cary, N.C. A total of 48 team members attended the meet with 42 running personal best times.

Kelsey Ponton for the girls team came in second overall with a time of 19:08, the second fastest time in Reservoir history. Maggie Niland came in eighth with a time of 20:03, the sixth fastest time in school history. Other runners on the girls team that had great races were Katie Krutz, Evelyn Gates and Sydney Dockendorf.

For the boys' team, Brian Fieni led the team with a time of 17:03, the seventh fastest time in RHS history. Alex Hedgren and William Christian followed closely behind. Other boys that had exceptional races were Kai Muniz, Ryan Hagedorn, Ryan Puls and Alvaro Hernandez.

In other sports news, the Reservoir High School Girls' Varsity Volleyball team came away with their first sweep of the season by defeating Marriotts Ridge High School in a three-game set: 25-19, 25-20 and 26-24.

Maddy Belt had 19 kills and 17 digs, Katie Dorn had 20 assists, Barbara Kelley had 12 digs, Megan Lieb had four assists and 12 digs and Diana Yuille had four blocks. Congratulations to the team and Coach Jamie Bullock.

In their season opener, the RHS Allied Soccer Team defeated Atholton High School by a score of 16-10. Will Alexion, Ally Ignacio, Clara Scholz, Becca Quintern, Yihui Wang and Sam Spring each scored two goals. Keenan Regner, Chris Dominguez, Konnor Young and Gillian Eisenberg scored one goal respectively.

At their next game, they defeated Mount Hebron 11-8. Game leaders were Ally Ignacio with three goals, Will Alexion and Clara Scholz with two goals each, and Becca Quintern, Chris Dominguez, Keenan Regner, and Gillian Eisenberg each adding one goal each. Russell Grumbine made several great saves to preserve the lead.

The Reservoir High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team took on undefeated Mt. Hebron High and came away with a 2-1 victory. Gustav Laigaard and Serigne Gueye each scored a goal in the win. The boys improved their record to 5-1. Congratulations.

The Lime Kiln Middle School students of the week for the week ending Sept. 26 are Kennedy Hawkins, Ali Rajabi, Taylor Lau, Jackson Prior, Samantha Hurley, Mihir Kurup, Ryan Marshall and Meah Konstanzer.

A unique performance of the play "The Odd Couple" is being presented by the River Hill High School Theatre Arts Department. The department will be performing both the male and the female versions.

Theatre arts teacher Pam Land is overseeing this production as producer. Two alumni are back as directors — Jamie Driskill (RHHS '04), directing the male version; and Amanda Ogorzalek (RHHS '08), directing the female version.

All performances will be held in the school auditorium. Performance dates are Oct. 22 (male), 23 (female), 24 (male) and 25 (female) at 7 p.m. and Oct. 25 (male) and 26 (female) at 2 p.m. Tickets are $11 in advance and $12 at the door.

The advanced ticket price will be honored at the door if you bring a nonperishable, not-expired food item. A special "Yin and Yang" option is available too: purchase a ticket to the male version of the play at the same time you purchase a ticket to the female version and you pay $10 for each ticket (not available online).
