Fulton Elementary says goodbye to six retirees [Fulton/Highland]

By the time you read this column, the school year will come to an end, kids will be out and about in the neighborhoods, at the pools hanging out with friends or down d'ocean, hun, walking the boards, swimming, and doing all sorts of things during their vacations.

For some staffers at Fulton Elementary, the end of this school year means a big change for them namely, retirement. They are: second grade teacher Elaine Bosserman, music teacher Kimberly McSweeney, GT resource teacher Marcy McSkimming, the secretary to the principal, Jan Wilson, media para-educator Gina Klatte and custodian Carolyn Cornish. Thank you for all you have done over the course of your career and in particular, for our children at Fulton. May your retirement be as fulfilling for you as your careers were.

Another change that will take place is that third-grade teacher Megan Brown will be taking a leave of absence, and Inez Gaynor-Vessels will be leaving to join the staff at Guilford Elementary School.

The Reservoir High School Student Government Association has a new suite of executive board officers for 2015-16. These students work with the SGA co-sponsors and coordinate all of the activities sponsored by our student government and extracurricular clubs. The new officers for the next school year are: Meghna Sreenivas, president; Lindsay Allen, first vice president; Haley Tiller, second vice president; Julia Dixon, secretary; Emily Fourney, treasurer; and Joe Smith, chief of staff. The SGA co-sponsors are RHS staffers Beth Demers and Michelle Hyde. Good luck to all of you in the coming year.

The annual Clarksville Picnic takes place on June 27 this year. "There's changes afoot!" I'll have more about the picnic next week.

Have a safe summer. Say a prayer for our service members who are in harm's way. Have a great week.
