Fulton Elementary spotlights exceptional readers [Fulton/Highland]

The exceptional readers for the third grade at Fulton Elementary School are Serena Goyal, Casey Van't Hoff, Luke Rubin, Carolyn Wong, Devan Patel, Courtney Johnson and Noah Ko.

For the fourth grade, they are Aiden Atang, Nikhitha Ganham, Sonja West, Aislin Hall, Lucas Turner and Ben Hongladarom.

The Lime Kiln Middle School students of the week for the week ending May 2 are Trinity White, Eric Diehl, Jessica Ziderman, Alex Barila, Jack Sutton, Angela Wei, Benjamin Cho, Savannah Mccrobie, Samantha Hurley and Rebecca Li. Congratulations to each of you.

Every year, the Reservoir High School choral, band and orchestral groups travel to a distant city, where they compete in a major music competition. This year the destination was Myrtle Beach, S.C., Without further ado, here are the results.

For choral: Women's Choir: Division IV, Superior Rating, 1st Place; Concert Choir: Division IV, Superior Rating, 1st Place; Men's Choir: Division IV, Superior Rating, 1st Place; and Madrigal Singers: Division IV, Superior Rating, 1st Place.

For instrumentals: Symphonic Band: Division V, Superior Rating, 1st Place; Orchestra: Division VI, Superior Rating, 1st Place; and Jazz Band: Division III, Superior Rating, 1st Place.

The Outstanding Achievement Awards went to Matt Armstrong, baritone solo, "Gee, Officer Krupke"; Andrea Miniño-Sola, soprano solo, "Angels in the Architecture"; Trumpet Section, Symphonic Band; Jessica Fisher, bassoon solo, "Lullaby and Finale" from Firebird Suite; Peter Nionakis, trumpet solo, Soirees Musicales; Troy Anlage, oboe/english horn solo, Soirees Musicales; Jisoo Choi, baritone sax solo, Coconut Champagne; David Erinle, drum solo, Coconut Champagne; Woodwind Section, Jazz Band; and Rhythm Section, Jazz Band.

Reservoir also received the following Champion Awards, which are given to performing groups who had the highest score in each category: Mixed Choral Champion, Men's Choral Chamion, Treble Choir Champion, Chamber Choir Champion, Concert Band Champion, and Jazz Band Champion.

And, finally, Reservoir received a "Grand Champion" award for each the Choral and Instrumental groups. Congratulations to all and to their outstanding music directors Greg Knauf, Colin O'Bryan and David Bacon.
