Every year, Ann and George Mech organize a cleanup day for the Howard County side of Triadelphia Lake watershed, walkways and roadways.
Volunteers from the Kalmia Farm community meet at a predetermined rendezvous and fan out, gathering the litter that finds its way to the water's edges and environs. This year, the group met on April 12, a fine spring day.
Participants were Jay Chiorini, Valerie Conn and twins Reece and Russell, aged 10, Martha Gittings, Peter Heimlicher, Patty Iammatteo, Randal Koster and Ann and George Mech.
At day's end, they gathered up 10 large bags of trash plus an 8-foot post. The water level was too high to retrieve an old tire. You all did a fantastic job. Well done.
