Plenty of talent at Lime Kiln, Fulton schools [Highland/Fulton]

The Howard County Commission for Women honored Esha Bhatti as the middle school winner of the 2015 Women's History Month Essay Contest. Principal Scott Conroy said that everyone at Lime Kiln Middle School is proud of her achievement.

In other Lime Kiln news, Christian Maric represented the school at the Howard County Spelling Bee, which was held after this column was submitted. I'll post an update as soon as I get it. The Lime Kiln runner-up contestant was Rohan Uttamasingh.

Congratulations to the following Fulton Elementary School "Kids for Character!" for the month of February —Kindergarten: Audrey Morales; 1st Grade: Chloe Chau; 2nd Grade: Finn Riley; 3rd Grade: Matthew Gutierrez; 4th Grade: Lucas Morales; and 5th Grade: Nathan Macek.

Some of Fulton Elementary teacher Alisa Wasilewski's students will have their art work on display at the Howard County Center for the Arts, 8510 High Ridge Road, Ellicott City, through April 24.

Their theme was "Personal Geography: Maps as Art". They are Abigail Ko, Noah Ko and Helena Wisniewska. Congratulations to these talented young people. For more information, contact the center at 410-313-2787.

Local Highland residents Ann and George Mech do their part to keep our environment clean of litter, trash and other detritus of the modern world. They are putting out a call to other volunteers to come out on April 4, rain or shine, and do their part to clean up the WSSC watershed area on the Howard County side.

The festivities start a 9 a.m. and continue until noon. Meet up with the rest of the volunteers at either the Big Branch parking lot on Triadelphia Mill Road or the Pigtail parking log on Greenbridge Road extended.
