Tips from a master gardener with spring around the corner

In spite of being in the middle of winter, with snow, rain, sleet and all kinds of other precipitation threatening, it’s not too early to think about your lawn.

On Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m., at the Savage Branch library, come hear Master Gardener Ann Vieth present Growing and Maintaining a Fescue Lawn. She will cover topics such as soil testing and preparation, choosing the correct seed, fertilizers (including what to use, when and how much and WIN numbers), watering, mowing, de-thatching and weed and disease control.

The result will be a beautiful lawn and you won’t be adding to the pollution of the Chesapeake Bay, a real plus. You can register online through the library at hclibrary.org or by calling the staff at 410-313-0760. The library is at 9525 Durness Lane, Laurel.
