Tickets for the performance are $8 and are available from any jazz band student, the high school front office or on the night of the performance. All proceeds will benefit the jazz band's tour of Europe this summer.

Barry Enzman has announced that he will retire at the end of this school year. Enzman brought a high quality music program to Glenelg at a time when this part of the county was home to more livestock than people. Over the years his bands have won many awards, as has Enzman himself. The trophy cases in the music hallway are full of trophies won at national competitions, and many more are displayed on shelves in the band room.

Then there are the 38 straight years that the symphonic band has received superior ratings in the county high school band assessment. This is a state record unmatched by any other school. Enzman has received the Howie Award from the Howard County Arts Council, the Teaching Excellence Award from the Howard County Public School System, the Maryland Music Educators Teacher of the Year Award and the Outstanding Educator Award from the Howard County Chamber of Commerce.

Enzman's 41 years at Glenelg have been spectacular, and have provided him "the pleasure and privilege of working with some of the finest students, musicians, and parents any band director could ever wish for," as he says. Enzman will be greatly missed, but there will be many opportunities for you to enjoy his enthusiastic directing as the year continues.

You will have a chance to enjoy another outstanding performance from the Glenelg Symphonic Band on Friday, March 13, when the band performs at the County High School Band Adjudication in the auditorium at Glenelg High School. Bands from every school in the county will perform starting at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, and continue until Glenelg performs at 8 p.m. Since these performances are intended for the judges, the times will change, but there is no admission charge, and you can stay to watch one or many bands. On Saturday, March 14, performances will begin about 12:30 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m.
