Ellicott City: Ciniero family ships holiday happiness to a needy town

Andrea Ciniero ends her emails with the tag line "Practice random acts of kindness." It's appropriate for this mom, who along with her family have been doing just that for almost two decades.

For the past 15 years, Andrea Ciniero and her family have made the holidays better for those less fortunate in Crum, W.Va., where the 2010 average household income was $15,449.

Every year at the end of November and early December, the Ciniero family spearheads a community collection of gently used clothes, toys, furniture, household items and non-perishable food at their home at 4925 Ellis Lane in Ellicott City. Their goal is to fill an entire 50-foot truck that sits in front of their house with donations.

This year, they will be loading the truck starting at 3 p.m. on Nov. 30 until the truck departs for Crum at 3 p.m. Dec. 1. If you would like to make a donation, please bring your gently used items, placed in closed plastic bags or boxes with lids, to the Ciniero house.
