Just because the weather is warming up doesn't mean that there aren't families in need. To help support those whose circumstances are unfortunate, local community organizations such as Green Valley Supermarket and CrossLife Community Church are collecting food on a rolling basis to replenish the Elkridge Food Pantry. Please help if you can. Otherwise, please enjoy this week's offerings of opportunity for fun and community engagement.
As many of you know, Cub Scouts do many things to give back to the community. Last month Cub Scout Pack 360 collected over 300 items from the Elkridge area through its Scouting for Food program. All of the items that were collected were given to local food banks and homeless shelters.
In addition to giving back to the community, the pack also has games and other activities throughout the year. If you would like to join them, the pack meets at Trinity Episcopal Church, 7474 Washington Blvd.
On May 16, the Pack will hold a picnic and recruitment event from 2 to 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal featuring food and games. Families with boys currently in kindergarten through 4th grade are invited to attend. For more information contact csp360@gmail.com
It is also the season for traveling. For those of you who prefer to do your traveling through books, the Elkridge Library's "Tales of the Tudors" may be right for you. However, the date was earlier misprinted. You will be able to participate in this program on Thursday, May 21, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Go immerse yourself in a good story and discover several novels written about Tudor England through the eyes of notable women, such as Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I. No registration is required, but you can get more information by calling 410-313-5077.
