March is month of discovery at Elkridge Branch Library [Elkridge]

March is well under way, and the Elkridge Branch Library is where it's at for finding the fun. There's something for adults, teens and children to explore and take with them into future adventures. So, read on to find out what's happening in your community via the local library.

Adults, are you looking for somewhere new and exciting to visit during spring break or on your weekends? Discuss and discover seasonal ideas for day trips, as well as local and light travel tips as the Elkridge Branch Library presents "Visiting Glorious Gardens and Grounds" on Thursday, March 19, from 7 to 8 p.m. No registration is required, but call 410-313-5077 for more information.

Maybe you prefer to do your traveling through books? If so, than the Elkridge Library's "Tales of the Tudors" may be right for you. Immerse yourself in a good story and discover several novels written about Tudor England through the eyes of notable women, such as Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I. The program takes place on Saturday, March 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. and all are welcome. No registration is required; but get more information by calling 410-313-5077.

Teens! Stretch your reading habits by sampling multiple genres and subjects in the "Level Up" series at the library. Gain XP (experience points) by participating in discussions and hands-on activities. XP will be exchanged for prizes in last session. The group will focus on Dystopian Fiction in its meeting on Monday, March 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. You must register for each session separately and light refreshments will be provided. Perhaps you prefer to write your own stories? Celebrate the power of stories and your imagination in the "Teen Writing Workshop" at the Elkridge Branch library. Learn to craft well developed characters, settings, and real dialogue. Create conflict and explore the basics of plotting in your writer's notebook. Hone your skills through peer coaching. Maybe you're a gamer at heart? Come learn about Sounds Around the World on Tuesday, March 24, from 7 to 8 p.m. Sounds Around the World is an arts-integrated geography game combining the universal love of music with the thrill of team competition. Join the Elkridge library staff for instruction with the game's creator, followed by a tournament. Prizes and snacks will be provided. Registration is required. Children! Lisa Phillips from Celebrate Us Gift Baskets will teach you how to design and stage gift baskets for your friends and family. This workshop will teach you to build empathy while building a basket for someone you know.
