This week, whether you're looking for an adventure in nature, wanting to celebrate Fat Tuesday or just curling up with a good movie, Elkridge has the events for family fun in the community.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, all are welcome for good food and good fellowship at Harwood Park United Methodist Church. The church, at 6635 Highland Ave. in Elkridge, is opening its doors for the celebration of Shrove Tuesday with a pancake supper. Pancakes with assorted toppings will be served along with sausage, potato casserole and beverages.

A goodwill offering will be taken to cover the costs. In addition, there will be a table of baked goods with items for purchase to tempt the appetite. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will go until 7pm. For more information, contact Karen Kunkel at 410-796-8056.

For some of us, the world around us is a land full of things to explore. On Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m., the Howard County Conservancy at Belmont invites you to join an expert in discovering the mysteries about invertebrates.

Come talk and hike with naturalist Ryan Gradel as he opens up the lives of the spineless for all to look upon. This event is free, but registration is appreciated to help to organize materials in advance. You can register at http://www.hcconservancy.org/upcoming-events.html.
