Get creative in the Choose Civility Poster Contest [Elkridge]

Now through March 1, the Howard County Library System is hosting its annual Choose Civility Poster Contest. This year, students in K-12 grades are encouraged to submit their ideas about how civility applies to sportsmanship, basically why it is important to be a good sport, in poster form.

The student who creates the Grand Prize winning entry will receive a $50 Target gift card, and their poster will be reproduced and distributed countywide to encourage others to choose civility in sports.

"The annual poster contest is a way to actively engage students in the Choose Civility discussion," said Valerie Gross, HCLS President and CEO. "It is an enlightening, educational opportunity that challenges young people to consider how civility applies to their lives."

Don't miss out on this opportunity to share your talent with the county. For more information about the contest, students and their parents are invited to go the website at choosecivility.org/civility-in-sports-poster-contest or contact Monica Herber at 410-730-0075 or email her at monica.herber@columbiaassociation.org.

All entries must include the student's name, grade level, and school on the reverse side of the artwork. Private and home school students are welcome to participate. Awards will be presented in a variety of categories. Winners in each category will receive a $25 Target gift card.

Winners will be announced at a special reception and awards ceremony on Thursday, March 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Columbia Association Art Center. The center will feature an exhibit of the top poster entries March 12-26.
