River Hill choral singers invite you to their concert [Clarksville]

River Hill High choir students under the direction of Richard McCready will present a fundraising choral concert at Abiding Savior Church in Columbia on Jan. 10 at 7 p.m.

The evening will also feature a silent auction. All proceeds will go toward scholarship funding for the Spring Choir trip to Orlando, Fla. All choirs, ensembles, band and guitar students will be attending the Heritage World Festival in Orlando in April. Your support is essential and greatly appreciated.

You never know where or how or when you might make a Clarksville connection. Do you remember Marc Forno and his wife Young Lee, endodontists with a practice in Clarksville some years ago? They now practice in Salisbury.

Their friend and fellow endodontist Derek Slosser and his pediatric dentist wife Kristin practice in Florida, but they fondly remember Clarksville. The foursome frequently enjoyed eating at El Azteca.

The Slossers were in Maryland in October for a continuing education seminar at Turf Valley. They took a drive to Clarksville and were delighted to find El Azteca is still in business.

At this point, you can probably guess who just got an unanticipated root canal in Florida. Does anyone ever expect to be getting a root canal?

An unanticipated root canal is not exactly something that might appear near the top of Santa's Wish List, but finding another El Azteca fan far from Howard County is a nice gift. Right about now a bowl of El Azteca's tortilla soup is a warm and comforting thought.

It's easy to overlook intangible gifts and even items of interest during a time when there are so many items of interest to juggle, but some of those are actually time critical.

Annie's Project is one of those time-critical items. The eight-session Farm Management Classes for Women begin Wednesday, Jan. 21, but you must register by Jan. 1. That means you need to act now if interested in focusing on the many aspects of farm management. The classes are designed to empower women and build local networks throughout the state.

The University of Maryland and Delaware Cooperative Extension combine to present Annie's Project at various sites in Maryland including ours at the extension office in Ellicott City on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Your $75 fee covers the entire course with meals and materials.
