Ham and Oysters on menu at Linden-Linthicum UM Church [Clarksville]

Oyster and ham lovers, arise. It's time for the annual Ham and Oyster Supper at Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church across from Freestate on Route 108.

The all-you-can-eat supper will be served family style on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. The meal includes hand-patted fried oysters, ham, potato salad, succotash, coleslaw, rolls, jelly, relishes, iced tea, lemonade and coffee for $19 at the door. The Frederick Chapter of the Hearing Loss Association of America will meet Saturday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. in the Edenton Retirement Community Manor House. Guest speakers will be Sandy and Dave Gill, volunteer puppy raisers for Guide Dog Foundation/America's VetDogs from Gaithersburg. They will bring Toby, their working Therapy Dog and Cindy Bear, their current Guide Dog Puppy in training. The talk will cover the differences between Guide Dogs and Service Dogs. All are welcome to attend. The group meets the first Saturday of each month.

Spirits will be soaring as children of all ages enjoy the high-flying musical fantasy "Peter Pan" at River Hill High over the weekend of Nov. 1-3. There's a cast of 50 RHHS students and 24 younger students from Howard County elementary and middle schools plus a live orchestra.

Performances are set for Nov. 1 at 7 p.m., Nov. 2, at 2 and 7 p.m. and Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. All performances are in the school auditorium.

Many of you know that Margaret Walton's grandson Randy Williams has Down Syndrome. Randy is now 7 years old. He and twin brother Jack are Cub Scouts. You can usually find big sister Annie nearby lending support for all Randy's activities.

October was anniversary month for two local businesses. Everett Jewelers celebrated 26 years in business with 16 of those years in River Hill Village Center. Nest celebrated its 10th anniversary in the Clarksville Square center near Roots Market.
