Remember the needy during firefighters' food drive [Elkridge]

No matter what holiday you celebrate during the season, food is a big part of the tradition. Whether you're baking for family and friends or on the receiving end of holiday goodies, culinary adventures and gifts can be enjoyable for both the giver and the eater. Unfortunately, there are families living in our community whose struggle is so severe that they have trouble feeding their loved ones, much less making the sweet and savory treats that we love to enjoy.

Fortunately, you can make a difference in their lives by partnering with the Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department in its annual Christmas Food Basket Drive.

It doesn't take much to brighten a family's Christmas. All you have to do is bring your favorite holiday canned goods such as green beans, yams, french fried onions, cream of mushroom soup, juice, etc., to the firehouse at 6275 Old Washington Road.

If you prefer, you can also donate a turkey. Just drop it off at the firehouse and spread the joy. If food donations aren't your thing, the fire department is also accepting monetary donations to help alleviate Christmas need. You can make your donation in cash marked for the Christmas Food Basket Drive or write your check payable to the Elkridge Fire Department to the care of the Christmas Food Basket Drive.
