Around 9:43 a.m. yesterday, police responded to the crash along Route 100 at Executive Park Drive in Ellicott City, where a Pontiac G5 had been traveling westbound, left the roadway and rolled over several times. Police said they are still investigating why the car veered off the road.

Quigg was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where Ashby was later transferred after going to Howard County General Hospital. She died Wednesday morning, police said.

No other passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the incident and no other vehicles were involved. Charges have not been filed, police said, but preliminary investigation found that neither were wearing seatbelts when the crash occurred.

Westbound Route 100 was closed between Route 108 and Executive Park Drive for about three hours during the investigation.
