Sykesville man dies in Route 32 motorcycle accident

Man, 30, killed in motorcycle crash on Rt. 32 Tuesday

A 30-year-old Sykesville man was killed early Tuesday evening after his motorcycle crashed into an SUV along Route 32, Howard County Police said.

Police identified the driver of the 2015 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 motorcycle as Nicholas Richard Moulthrop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 5:08 p.m. May 12, Moulthrop was traveling south on Route 32 near Livestock Road when his motorcycle collided with a 2010 Jeep Liberty, according to police. The Jeep was making a left turn onto Route 32 north from eastbound Livestock Road when the crash occurred.

The driver of the Jeep was identified as 65-year-old Stuart Mark Stein of Gwynn Oak. Stein was taken to Howard County General Hospital and listed in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation and witness accounts found the Kawasaki was traveling at a high speed just before the crash, police said.

Route 32, between Route 99 and Interstate 70, was closed for approximately four hours Tuesday with the assistance of the Maryland State Highway Administration CHART team.

The accident is being investigated by Howard County Police.
