I was happy to see your editorial about Maryland's notorious reputation for gerrymanders. In fact, my old district, the third, was in my husband's MBA textbook as an example of it.
I would like to propose that our legislators consider composing districts by ZIP Code. The USPS has no political motive when they were set up. They just divided house by equal numbers to get the mail out. By picking zip codes that touch, you solve the problem of wonks, hacks and special interests pouring over voting maps to divide people and gain/keep power.
