Howard County Autism Society hosting annual walk, run

The Howard County Autism Society will hold its eighth annual One Step Closer Austim Walk and 5K on Nov. 15 at Centennial Park. The races start at 10 a.m. and individuals can register up until the day of the event. Individuals who pre-register can do so for a reduced cost.

Tryouts for the Ravens Girls Lacrosse Club 2019, 2020 and 2021 teams will be on Nov. 22 from 3-5 p.m. at Bryn Mawr School. Experienced female lacrosse field players and goalies graduating from high school in 2019, 2020 and 2021 are eligible. Details and pre-registration requirements are available at ravenslax.org.

Volleyball

The Columbia Volleyball Club will hold tryouts in early November. For more than 25 years the Columbia Volleyball Club has provided a high-quality club experience to the area's young volleyball enthusiasts. Tryouts will be held at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex on the following dates: 14U & 15U: Nov. 8, 8:30-11:30 a.m.; 16U, 17U & 18U: Nov. 8, 3-6 p.m. For more details, go to columbiavolleyballclub.org.

East Coast Elite Volleyball will hold tryouts in Cooksville in early November. The team advanced to Nationals in Minneapolis in its inaugural season last year. Basketball

The Howard County Youth Program (HCYP) is hosting a sixth grade girls travel basketball league, which will play an 8-game schedule on Sunday afternoons at Howard County high school gyms. Games will commence on Jan. 11 and continue for eight consecutive weeks. Registration is $450 per team and interested teams can register at hcyp.org. Registration deadline is Dec. 3.

Howard County Recreation and Parks will hold the 25th Annual Wootten Basketball Clinic for boys and girls in first grade through 12th. The clinic will be held at Long Reach High School on Nov. 16 from 2-4:45 p.m. Attendance is free, but please go to http://www.hcyp.org to register.

Soccer

The Soccer Association of Columbia Juniors program is a fun-filled introduction to soccer. SAC offers six, one-hour weekday or weekend sessions for players ages 3 to 4 throughout the year in Howard County. Go to sackick.com to register. Email asksac@sac-hc.org for more information.

Also go to sackick.com to register for SAC's upcoming clinic (ages 4 to 6) and recreation (ages 6 to 18) seasons, which begin in April. Also available is registration for School's Out Holiday Clinics in November and December. Sessions are available from 9 a.m.-noon, 1-4 p.m. and 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Team registrations are now being accepted for the Central Maryland Soccer Association's Thanksgiving Soccer Cornucopia Nov. 29 and 30 in Jarrettsville. The Cornucopia is open to all USSF youth affiliated teams, U8-U18, in the mid-Atlantic region. All teams are guaranteed at least three games. Register at cmsasoccer.com by Nov. 17.
